The Zero DFV team exists to support and facilitate the community’s progress towards the elimination of domestic and family violence. It has become particularly apparent in recent months that the team will add value through addressing practical challenges for the community and building relationships. This requires dedicated time and skills to tick off major tasks from the community’s wishlist. Some examples include:
These activities are already underway in the community. The Zero DFV team aims to accelerate progress by contributing additional time and expertise.
Initially, we expected the Zero DFV team’s focus to be more strategic, adding value through planning, negotiations, and progress tracking. Based on this, we created the original Community Facilitator role.
However, as team goals have evolved, we have redefined the required roles, expanding from one to four distinct positions. The current roles are:
The Community Activity Coordinator welcomes, onboards, and supports community members participating in the Zero DFV program. This role is the primary point of contact for participants, ensuring they are informed, connected, and engaged with program activities. The Coordinator promotes community involvement by publicising events, meetings, and opportunities to contribute. The role also maintains accurate, up-to-date information on the community website to support transparency and ongoing communication.
Through education, storytelling, and strategic engagement, the Community Mobilisation Lead empowers individuals and organisations to understand their role in prevention and participate confidently in Zero DFV initiatives. This role develops the annual engagement strategy, leads campaigns, and oversees communications that motivate collective action and celebrate community progress.
The Solution Development Lead transforms the community’s vision and priorities into actionable outcomes. This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between strategy and practical implementation, supporting the achievement of key goals by planning, leading meetings, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to develop effective solutions. The Solution Development Lead provides hands-on guidance, resources, and feedback to solution owners, tracks progress against milestones, and encourages a culture of shared ownership. By fostering collaboration, resolving challenges, and maintaining momentum, this role ensures that projects remain aligned with community values and deliver a lasting, positive impact.
This role oversees all activities within the Zero DFV program, providing leadership and direction to ensure the program runs smoothly and effectively. The Program Director is responsible for setting priorities, monitoring progress, and addressing any barriers to success. This includes overseeing the implementation of methodologies, processes, and systems, as well as ensuring that staff and resources are aligned with the community’s goals. The Program Director also evaluates the impact of these efforts, making data-driven decisions to refine approaches and maximise positive outcomes. Ultimately, the role exists to ensure that every aspect of the program contributes meaningfully to the community’s ability to reach Zero DFV.
The Zero DFV program is still in pilot, so the landscape will continue to change. To ensure we can adapt to those circumstances, we are engaging people on a short-term contract basis, and they are fully briefed as to why that is the case. Once the role requirements stabilise, we will move these roles into more permanent employment arrangements.
We will soon post a Team Page on the website with details on the people currently in these roles.
